Monolith is one of my oldest stories, first draft was written in 2004. Since then there has been a lot of developing details and world building. The story chronicles the history of the Colossi on the planet Wengori. The Monolith is basically a religious icon in the empire of Colossi. Colossi are large humanoid people often referred to as giants by the humans and other smaller peoples of Wengori. The ancient name for the Monolith is the Ovir-Goroti, or Great Gate.

     The Colossi people ended up on Wengori when they fled their home planet Kektari. They evaded a foe called the "World Devourer" using the Great Gate. When they arrived on Wengori the Monolith was used to help establish shelter in the alien land. All magic comes from the Monolith when the city Orenthar was established the first emperor removed the power of the Great Gate and formed it into a sword. D'tuemenetsha, the sword of emperors, only the worthy descendants can wield the blade proving their right to rule. To all others it feels far to heavy to swing. This burden grants the blade the easier-to-pronounce nickname the sword unwieldable.

     When Oren had the power-well drawn out he used it to shatter the Monolith into many pieces. Oren took the shards of the Monolith and spread them throughout Wengori to hide them. Oren then announced a prophesy of a chosen leader, Si-ee, that will be forced from his home, gather the shards, reassemble the Monolith and activate it. Si-ee will be the key to returning to Kektari and defeating the "World Devourer".

     The primary story from Monolith follows a descendant of Oren named Lance, who fulfills the prophesy of Si-ee. His adventure takes him all around the planet and encountering all the bizarre creatures.
